Back At It Sports & Wellness was established in Canmore in 2005. Originally, it was a company dedicated to following races and athletes and then a clinic was built. The goal of the clinic was (and always will be) to hire therapists that can ALL do focused style treatment. Meaning that we spend time on the issues you bring to us, we can zone in on injuries and injury prevention. Our clinic specifically caters to sports, therapeutic massage and acupuncture. However, we also believe that Every BODY deserves relief from their aches and pains. All are welcome!
How we are different
Our focus is on the therapeutic approach to massage and acupuncture. We don’t give you a routine, we give unique individualized treatments. What does this mean? It means that our therapists are NOT robots, they are trained to NOT do the same thing over and over. They are trained to palpate, assess and treat each person, specific to their needs.
Our highly educated and talented therapists listen to you, assess your symptoms, evaluate the cause of your pain and make a plan of action for your treatment. We often give stretches, exercises and make recommendations for you to continue with your own recovery outside of the clinic. Sometimes this means referring you to other health care practitioners such as Physiotherapists or Chiropractors. We have strong working relationships with other local practitioners and we believe in providing you with continued care.
Level of Service
ALL of our therapists are either:
- Registered Massage Therapists or
- Registered Acupuncturists and Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine
We provide the highest of standards for education and continued education..
Mountain Town Living
There is a reason each one of our therapists lives in the Bow Valley and it’s to enjoy the mountains! Back At It firmly believes in work life balance. Our therapists can only give their best in the treatment room if they take care of themselves, by getting out to enjoy the fresh air, bagging a peak, floating down the river, biking, getting face shots at the ski hill or whatever the reason this valley brings them joy is. The book Let my People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard has been an integral part of the culture at Back At It. “It is the story of a man who brought doing good and having grand adventures into the heart of his business.”
Back At It owner Vanessa Joosten talks about what mountain town living means to her:
