Jenny
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Jenny grew up in a small, mountain town in northern BC where she immersed herself in sports and the natural world around her. This environment nurtured her passion for movement and led her to pursue a degree in Kinesiology. Jenny utilized this knowledge to become a personal trainer and developed an even stronger curiosity surrounding the intricacies of human movement and the variability in her clients’ progress. In her effort to seek a deeper understanding, she soon discovered the field of Osteopathic Manual Therapy. She enrolled at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in the year 2020 and over the course of her 4-year program, she gained a profound new perspective of human movement and its underlying principles. Today, Jenny’s practice is fuelled by the same curiosity that has driven her throughout her life. She is committed to uncovering the “why” behind her patients’ symptoms, using her extensive knowledge and skills to provide effective, individualized care. Jenny’s passion to help others set the foundation to her pursuit of knowledge, and now, she finds the most rewarding aspect of being an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, is the ability to share this knowledge with her patients so they can better understand their own health journeys.
How would you describe your style of Osteopathic techniques?
Jenny’s approach to treatment is characterized by her dedication to understanding the root cause(s) of movement dysfunction and the symptoms that can accompany it. This style of treatment encompasses a full body assessment that uses gentle, hands on manipulation to help guide the bodies self healing and self regulating processes so that your joints, muscles, organs and other tissues have a better chance to function optimally. With sound structural mechanics there is a greater ability for your physiology to maintain health.
What do you do when you aren’t in the clinic working?
When Jenny’s nose is not stuck in a textbook, she can be found exploring mountain peaks and rivers, playing spikeball and beach volleyball and enjoying a hot coffee reading her favourite book.
What made you decide to become an Osteopathic Manual Therapist?
From childhood, Jenny has asked the question “why”. It has been her watchword to understanding the world around her. During her time as a personal trainer, she observed that her knowledge of human movement brought out more questions than answers. She felt drawn to pursue a more in depth understanding not only to satiate her own curiosity but to truly know and understand how to help her patients. It was in the year 2019 she found Osteopathic Manual Therapy at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and she enrolled the following year. The CAO offered a 4-year, principles based education; meaning she was being taught how to critically think about and apply natural law. With a new perspective of human movement, Jenny uses her knowledge to provide treatment plans that are adaptable, logical and thorough to each individual patient.
