Recovery is an important step of any training program regardless if you are newbie to the gym, a crossfit athlete or running an ultramarathon. Wear and tear on your body creates muscle tightness and muscle aches. That is why it is so important to incorporate sports massage into your routine.
A sports massage is a no-nonsense treatment and is focused on your trouble areas.
A therapeutic massage works on specific problems to help relieve pain and reduce stress. Although pressure is typically deeper in nature it does not necessarily need to cause intolerable or excruciating pain to get results. The goal is to increase range of motion and improve circulation which aids in the recovery of sore muscles.
In a therapeutic massage the massage therapist will ask you what you specifically want worked on and then will focus on those areas.
During a relaxation massage the focus will be to help you relax, de-stress, calm your nervous system, and promote a sense of well being.
Typically during a relaxation massage the therapist uses lighter pressure.
Although we do not specifically offer a service called relaxation massage you just have to ask and all of our therapists will accommodate you.
The jaw or Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is frequently a source of headaches and pain in the head, face and neck. People who experience headaches, motor vehicle accidents, sports or worksite injuries often have jaw issues.
When selecting TMJ massage in our online system you will only be able to book in with our therapists that specializes in TMJ. These therapists have had extra training and practice with TMJ treatments.
We offer kids massages!
This treatment is 30min in length and is beneficial for ANY kid.
Benefits include: decreasing stress, helping with anxiety, depression, learning what healthy therapeutic touch is, injury prevention and so much more. Touch is essential to a child’s development, by teaching kids body awareness and a sense of well being will it help ensure that touch can be a positive experience.
Cupping is a safe and effective form of treatment that decreases muscle tightness and pain. It is a tool that massage therapists use during a treatment that creates a suction that pulls skin and fascia upward. Cupping is often used in a massage treatment and is not offered as it’s own service.
Our therapists have taken extra training to ensure that they can safely and effectively use cupping during a massage treatment. Ask your therapist if they can add it to your treatment.
Many of us at the clinic are also Moms. We know what it’s like to be pregnant and we know the aches and pains pregnancy causes on our bodies.
Prenatal massage is great for all stages of pregnancy, providing that we gather additional information about the pregnancy for an extensive health history. This gives us the information that we need about the progression of the pregnancy and to make sure there are no complications.
Now that you have a new baby your body has changed, your energy is focused on taking care of your baby and your needs are now secondary. Our postnatal massage is about YOU and only you!
Postnatal Massage focuses on areas of the body that are stressed from breastfeeding, cradling, carrying and the aftermath on our backs and hips from labor. Postnatal massage helps in the recovery after the physical and emotional stress of pregnancy and delivery.
Did you have a c-section? Do you know that massaging your c-section scar can help heal it quicker and can get you back to moving and doing activities?
The therapists that provide C-section scar massage at Back At It have taken an additional course on c-section scar massage. The scar cannot be worked on until the wound is closed and the client feels comfortable about this localized massage (we recommend after 3 months) or contact us to find out more details of when it is best to start treatments.
