TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU:
I grew up in the Bow Valley, mainly in Canmore. My mom and I would ride to school and to commute, and we went mountain biking as a family. I didn’t get into racing until later on when I joined the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club. I started out mountain biking, and then got a road bike at the end of high school, so I had the opportunity to race both disciplines for a couple of years before deciding to pursue road racing. I started studying at the University of Calgary in 2013 and joined the Bicisport Cycling Club. The following year, I signed my first professional contract with an American team, Rally Cycling, and have been racing for them since then.
OTHER PASSIONS OTHER THAN YOUR SPORT?
I studied kinesiology, specifically, exercise and health physiology, and am passionate about health and wellness. I really enjoy learning about nutrition and creating healthy meals. I also love spending time outdoors and travelling.
WHAT DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
When I’m home and training, a typical day looks something like this: breakfast and coffee, dog walk, training ride, lunch, nap, yoga/core/stretch, another dog walk, dinner and then unwinding before bed.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRAIL IN THE BOW VALLEY?
My favourite trail is probably the Montane Traverse. The house I grew up in was super close to this one, so I would regularly ride and run it. It’s a great trail year-round, but my favourite is a nice fall trail run!
3 THINGS THAT MOST PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW:
1. I grew up training and competing in dance, and completed most of my ballet exams.
2. I don’t actually own a road bike of my own
3. I am fluent in French
ONE SPORT THAT YOU WISHED YOU WERE GOOD AT:
Anything involving throwing and catching 🙂
ONE GOAL YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR?
A podium spot in the Individual Time Trial at Nationals in the fall
WHICH OF YOUR SCARS HAS THE BEST STORY BEHIND IT?
I have a small scar on my elbow that is the incision spot for a 10cm titanium screw in my ulna. I was fortunate to get care from the Banff Sport Med clinic and I was back riding (on the trainer) within a week of crashing.
YOUR FAVOURITE MOTIVATION SONG?
(Almost) anything by Beyonce
