Tell us a bit about you:
I grew up in Prince George, BC. My family was always really active outdoors and went on a lot of hiking and canoe trips in the summer and spent the winter cross country skiing. Every weekend we would ski past the local biathlon team out training and my older brother really wanted to try it out. When he was old enough, he joined the team, being a little sister, I wasn’t far behind. My whole family got super involved with the team and we never looked back from there.
Other passions other than your sport?
When I am not training or racing, I really enjoy baking, sewing and camping. In the kitchen I love trying new recipes and perfecting new techniques. The last couple of years I have been on a yeasted bread kick, from sweet breads to croissants to sourdough bread but I always make time for some classics like cookies and bars. My sewing passion I got from my mom, she was always making clothes for me and my brother growing up and I love spending time with her in the sewing room. When I was in grade 8, she helped me sew my first spandex race suit in some pretty crazy material. Now most of my sewing is repairs for friends and teammates but I still enjoy finding time for different creative projects or sewing mitts for my really low-key mitt business. As for camping, I love just taking a break from everything and spending some time in nature. My favorite is backcountry camping so that it’s extra quite and remote.
What does your typical day look like?
In a typical day I will have 2 physical training sessions and one shooting session as well as some dryfiring. The morning session will either be a longer session, or a more intense session and the afternoon session will be strength or an easy recovery session. In the spring the shooting session will be static and then as the training season progresses, we will start mixing shooting with physical training. Most days after lunch I will have a nap or at least rest a bit before my second session. When I am not training I will either be doing my online class, working at Starbucks, coaching Canmore Nordic, or more relaxing social stuff like hanging with friends, baking, or sewing.

Which of your scars has the best story behind it?
I have one scar on the inside of my right knee that I got when I was hiking as a kid. I stepped off the trail to go pee and thought I just scratched my leg, but it turns out part of a stick got stuck in my leg. A couple weeks later it got really infected and my mom tried to pull it out with tweezers in the bathtub and I wouldn’t let her. We went to the doctor and got it removed but then I got an allergic reaction to the medicine for the infection.
Your favourite motivation song?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite motivation song. It depends a lot on the season and my mood.
