Beijing Olympics: Sarah Beaudry
Back At It’s Athlete Ambassador Sarah Beaudry on her Olympic experience in Beijing
Back At It’s Athlete Ambassador Sarah Beaudry just competed in biathlon for her second Olympic Games in Beijing. We were able to ask her a couple questions after her Olympic experience.
What was your Favourite food in Beijing?
- Dumplings
Favourite thing about the Olympic in Beijing?
- It was really cool to be able to ski up to a part of the Great Wall of China. It wasn’t the picturesque, preserved section but it really made me realise how big the wall was.
Things you were the most surprised about?
- Team Canada did an even better job than I was expecting to bring great team vibes and unity despite the pandemic. I was worried we were all going to be hanging out in our room and not socializing much, similar to racing the World Cup the last 2 years. With the closed bubble and daily testing, I felt super secure and team Canada had an awesome athlete lounge, with snacks, TVs to watch the races and games as well as some really awesome concierge staff.
Favourite moment?
- Watching my childhood training partner win her first Olympic Medal in snowboard cross and being able to celebrate with her.
Tell us about your experience at your second Olympic Games? How different was it from the previous Olympics?
- I enjoyed representing Canada and I was proud to have made the team, but it was also hard to not be racing how I had hoped and to feel bad skiing. I tried to enjoy my time there despite not performing well. It was definitely a different experience than my last Games as I had not been guaranteed start spots and when I did I managed to perform really well.
