Kids Massage: 3 Reasons for choosing Back At It
Here are 3 reasons why you should choose Back At It for your Kids Massage:
1. Only the therapists that are trained and experienced in kids massage offer kids massage.
Here’s why: we believe not every therapist is great at everything. The saying “a jack of all trades is a master none” is true for massage therapy as well. So some of our therapists excel in certain disciplines such as TMJ (jaw) treatment or prenatal massage, but maybe not kids massage. So we have specifically designed a treatment called ‘Kids Massage’ and only the therapists that offer this will appear in the online booking system.
2. We have a specifically designed treatment called “Kids Massage”
We have a simple rule at Back At It: Kids should only experience 30min massages. One of the reasons for this is their nervous systems can’t handle the same amount of treatment as adults and so we have specifically designed a treatment called ‘Kids Massage’. We find results are better with shorter treatment times. It sets them up for a more positive experience. Often larger, athletic children might benefit from a longer treatment, so there is an exception to this rule, but it is discussed with the therapist BEFORE extending the treatment time.
3. We believe parental Consent is important.
Consent is a big deal to us. We have a policy that requires the parent to not only fill out our consent form but to be present during the beginning of the treatment so that the therapist has an opportunity to explain the treatment plan and obtain consent from the parent and the child. For us kids massage is a treatment, it’s not a babysitting plan or a time for benefits to get used up. It is the opportunity for kids to get the therapeutic benefit of receiving a massage, whether it be an injury, a sore back, an opportunity to teach the child how to relax or to deal with anxiety.
If you have any questions about Kids massage we encourage you to reach out by calling or emailing us, we would be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.
