Overworked and Overtired?
Are you Overworked and Overtired?
As a naturopathic doctor working in Banff, the most common complaint I hear is “I’m tired” and the most common people I hear it from are servers!
People working in the food service industry are often at increased risk for fatigue due to the physically demanding nature of their work, long hours, and irregular schedules. In addition, the high-stress environment of a busy restaurant or kitchen can further contribute to fatigue and exhaustion.
But of course you’re tired! You are serving people 40+ hours a week all while trying to bag some peaks, get on your bike, and keep up with friends. If you are starting to feel the physical effects of making the most of the Banff, consider work with me (Dr. Jess, ND) to help you navigate best options to get you feeling more energized.
How can I help?
As a naturopathic doctor, I can provide support and guidance to help individuals in this profession address their fatigue. Some treatment therapies that may be helpful include nutritional counseling, lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine, and vitamin injection therapy.
Fatigue can be due to a variety of factors, including lack of sleep, poor nutrition, stress, frequent infections, or certain medical conditions. It is my job is to figure out what factors are contributing to your fatigue and create an individualized treatment plan to address them.
With this individualized treatment plan comes realistic changes. As a server I get that your bedtime is variable and you are often eating a meal in between tables. This doesn’t mean your health has to suffer, it means that we need to get creative on practical changes to help to alleviate stress, improve sleep quality, and boost overall health and well-being.
