The Dark Side of Vitamin Water
The Dark Side of Vitamin Water is an article written by John Robbins who is the author of The New Good Life: Living Better Than Ever in an Age of Less.
Coca-Cola is being sued for false advertising misleading consumers into thinking that these vitawater drinks are healthy drinks. In the article John Robbins writes “In fact, the product is basically sugar-water, to which about a penny’s worth of synthetic vitamins have been added. And the amount of sugar is not trivial. A bottle of vitaminwater contains 33 grams of sugar, making it more akin to a soft drink than to a healthy beverage.”
When people drink these beverages do they think that there are no calories in these drinks and that all of the ingredients are 100 per cent good for you? A lot of people who are trying to lose weight don’t count calories in what they drink, what they don’t know is most drinks are very high in caloric value. I posted a while ago a link to shocking info on many drinks that are equivalent to eating 14 sugar cubes!!! Robbins states that “Americans now get nearly 25 percent of their calories from liquids”.
Just drink water, there is no way around it (well there are a few) but the best beverage for you is drinking water plain and simple. Or if you really hate straight up water add a wedge of lime or lemon.
