The best $4 you ever spent.
This little nugget of rubber is what gets into all those hard to reach muscles. It digs deep. It fits perfectly into those spots that the foam roller is too broad for. Best of all its cheap and travels well.
The first time I was introduced the lacrosse ball was when I played varsity Lacrosse for Wilfred Laurier. After practice I would sit on one of these balls to loosen up my gluts and hamstrings.I also used it on long car rides to games. I would stick that little sucker under my bum right in the fleshy part of one of my butt checks (the Gluteus Maximus) and then slowly extend my leg and wiggle around to find “the sweet spot”. The sweet spot is that tight spot in the muscle that makes you make a pain face. Its the spot in the muscle that needs a little extra time to release. It has this amazing ability to work much like a massage therapist’s elbow in your gluts.
When I started doing Crossfit about 7 years ago I found a guy on youtube in the cross fit world named Kelly Starette. Kelly is a physiotherapist who uses the lacrosse ball for many rehab exercises. Check out some of his videos below, some amazing self massage techniques can be used with the Lacrosse ball and like I said we sell it for dirt cheep $4.50.
